The HD lenses have made me start thinking about the 35macro. So I think, I'm likely to buy an HD version of one I don't own versus replace either my DA40 or DA15 at this point.
That's my plan too.

I have the FA Limited trinity, but I have been tempted by the 15mm and 21mm DA LTDs. I just might either pick up the old version or new depending on how the prices settle.

Since the lenses still say Pentax (as do the new flashes) I will be giving Ricoh/Pentax some money in the near future.

My hunch is that a new camera is going to be announced soon, as these announcements could have stood on their own for the upcoming conference in Germany.

Me too. On the other hand, the only (current) DA ltd lens piquing my interest is the 21, and if the new coating (and rounded blades) make a significant difference (that can't be replicated easily in post), I might consider springing for the HD version.

On a related matter - any clue when the promised DA ltd wide zoom may appear? (Perhaps as a rebranded Sigma 18-35 )

I just want some 'real new lenses' They won't get any of my money unless they come up with something new. So the answer is no I won't.

This year I bought a DA40 but I'm not going to replace it. Pentax likely has to offer some more gear this year and I'll wait if that's more useful. Perhaps the DA35 at a later moment.

I foolishly broke my DA 21's autofocus. Might get a HD40 Ltd to sit on my k-01 instead now.

Pentax always makes me think red not green, so the color change is OK by me. That said my 40/70 pair are perfectly fine - and the green band matches my t-shirt!

now what do do with my signature line color... hmmm

I'm worried the rounded aperture blades will kill the starbursts. That's my favorite part of the 15! I'm wanting the 21, and this had me scratching my head. I'll probably love the new coating, so maybe a Frankenstein lens-swap aperture blades between the DA and HD?

Long story short - don't try fixing your own lens without having all the information.

I bought my DA 21 used, and after a few months I noticed that it wouldn't focus to infinity anymore (it did originally). So I looked online and saw that it was a somewhat common defect for the DA 21, and you can fix it yourself. I tried, fixed it, but in the process broke the little copper strip that transmits/receives data from the camera body.

So it still works as an A lens now.

I might finally get the DA 15mm because of this. The nano coating will probably make a noticeable difference when shooting in sunny conditions (i.e. pretty much every day here in AZ), though I hope the bokeh from the new version is just as good. We'll see, as I've already requested the lens for review.
Lol, I'm wondering just how much more flare resistant you can make the DA 15. It's already tough enough to take on the sun head-on as is.

I for one welcome the new HD ltd lineup. I've mused with the idea of upgrading my DA 35 2.4 to the 35 macro ltd in the past, but that sits somewhere in the middle of my "things I want" depth chart. If and when I do go through with that though I will definitely go for the HD version.

If there is a really noticeable difference in IQ I may replace my DA15 with the new silver version.
But probably not the other ones.

I have no intention of replacing my DA15 with a new version, the current DA15 works well and I don't use it that much anyway. My 3 FA limiteds are staying too, it doesn't matter how many coatings and paint changes they make to the DA limiteds, they will never beat any of the FA limiteds.

The old versions are now obsolete and losing value every day. Before you start to notice how awful they are, and worry about the ruined images, I will generously offer 50% of the current B&H retail price.

At photokina/CP+, Pentax had a demo stand showing you the difference in reflectivity & color cast between the two coatings. Whether or not this actually has an effect on your photos is another story.

I will say, though, that Nikon's nano crystal coat is pretty good. If the new Pentax coating is comparable, then it should at least do a better job of suppressing ghosting and flare. I will certainly investigate this
I don't trust their demo, I only trust your report and I look forward to reading it
