While I love the 50-135 for portrait work (ya, I like to stand a ways off), it's a little short for 'walking around'. I've been craving the DA* 60-250 since it was announced, but it looks to be a ways off yet ('summer'). So, I think to myself, I've got that 1.7x TC - if I slap that on the lens it'll be close to the 60-250. I thought I'd try it out to get a feel for the range (will I like it) and to see how sharp the combo would be...
We got our cat a new blanket - one with catnip in it. After 10 minutes she was flyin' high and beggin to be photographed. Unfortunately, she was sliding her face forward during this shot so it's her back eye (not front) that wound up in focus.
K10D was set to auto-focus, lens to manual focus. I would focus in the ballpark on the lens and then depress the shutter release half way to have the TC do the rest.
lens @ f/4.5 (TC adjusts it to f/8), 1/180, ISO 1100, spot metering, aperture priority
Lightroom adjustments: blacks +12, sat +5, sharpening 25
100% crop
