Help me choose a lens!

I just bought my first DSLR - K100D Super with kit lens.

I plan to stick with this lens while learning, but would like to get a wide angle, telephoto, ect. lens sometime this year. I'm setting my budget for $300.00 and am looking for suggestions.

Top 3 recommendations for my budget? Sample pics are welcome

You should be able to get a pentax 16-45mm used for about that price or a little over new.

A good prime would be a pentax 35mm f2.

Or possibly a kit lens and a 50mm f1.4?

Hopefully other can chime in about some other bands and or lenses.

Good luck!

After getting my Pentax k100D with 18-55mm lens
I decided I needed something good for indoors and great bokeh.
The 50mm 1.4 still amazes me every time I use it. My next lens
will definetly be a macro/telephoto and I'm looking at the Tamron 70-300mm.

Edit:

New: 50mm 1.4 = $200

New: Tamron 70-300mm = $159...

You could just buy both but that would just make me really jealous.

I agree with drivel and NY. Get a fast prime for your next lens for indoor flashless shooting, and DOF flexibility. The 35 f/2 and the 50/1.4 are great, and the cost is for what you get is outstanding. I take more shots with those two lenses than my 18-250 zoom. Fast primes really open up a new world of flashless photography, but you will need some practice so you are not frustrated focussing with such a small DOF.

tamron 17-50 2.8, but you need to add a little....
pentax 16-45 4, slower than tamron, but very good lens indeed...
pentax 35 mm f/2 perfect lens...
pentax fa 50mm 1.4...

I think NY nailed it right on the head, the 50/1.4 and the Tammy 70-300mm.

I was going to say the same thing. That was a great suggestion by NY. It stretches the budget a tiny bit, but everything is pretty well covered...wide angle to telephoto, low light, even some decent macro capability.

The 50mm 1.4 is this lens auto focus? I know that there is an auto focus 50mm but it looks sort of cheap.. does anyone own this lens. What are your thoughts on it..

I can change that. I sell you mine for 450 USD and you wont think it looks cheap anymore . I add my support to the 50 f1.4 + tamron 70-300

For the money you have and the usage you described I would think that the 50 f1.4 might be too long for interior shots. It is effectively a 75mm lens. It is a great lens but too telephoto for interiors. Great for portraits however. I would suggest the 35mm f2.0 also nice for close proximity portraits and full shots being a 52.5 mm f2.0 lens and the Tamron Di 70-300. From the tests I have seen of the Tamron it seems very capable and has Macro to boot.

The FA35 is an excellent lens, unbelievably sharp at all apertures (check the photozone review) and w/ the 1.5x crop factor, can be used like an old school 50mm lens. the bad things:
1. it's plastic (well constructed no doubt)
2. DA 35mm macro out on April 1
3. DA* 30 out soon
