I have just bought some lens hoods from an Ebay seller called Phoebe-G based in China. The hoods are the telephoto length in 49, 55 and 58mm. They are circular aluminium and are excellent quality and low price. The 49mm are for my 28-2.8A,35-2 FA and 50-1.7F. There is no noticeable vignetting with the 28 or the others on APS-C digital format and the hood when fitted to the 35 gives better shading than the supplied full frame petal hood. The 55 hoods are for my Tamron 90-2.8 and Sigma 50-2.8 macro's, much less obtrusive on the Tamron and more effective on the Sigma. A 55mm clipon cap fits the front of the 49 hood and a 58mm cap fits the 55 hood. The 62 hood will take a 67 cap.

I recently bought a 49mm metal hood from a different Ebay seller for a Pentax F 80-200 Craigslist special. Initially he sent me a plastic petal hood but since the front element of the F 80-200 rotates when it focuses, the petal style wasn't what I needed. He sent me the correct hood once I contacted him about the shipping mix-up.

I just tried out the combo last night and I did not see any vignetting at the long or short end of the focal length. Although this lens cap attaches to the filter threads of the lens, it to is threaded on the other end to hold a 52mm lens cap.

I forgot that the F80-200 has 49mm thread, the hoods which I bought fit perfectly. What looks like a 55mm thread at the front is in fact a series of parallel rings on the Phoebe-G hoods which is fine for a clip on cap.

The 49 mm "telephoto" hood is 36mm long and is ok on the 28A but would be too long for a 24 mm lens. The 55mm hood on my Sigma 50 macro is too long beyond 1:2, at 1:1 the plane of focus is just inside the hood. Of course at 1:1 with a 50mm Sigma it is best without hood or filters.

I have found that shipping time varies from company to company when dealing with China. I have had items arrive in a week and I have had items take more than a month.

My dealings with various Chinese firms has always been good and everything I have had sent to the UK has taken about 10 days +- I day.
