Pentax lens to Canon body adapter...

On a search, the last time a post on this topic that I could find was discussed was in 2009. While I have no intension of wrecking my FA or F lenses in some folly to get a better FF sensor behind them. I was thinking this may work quite nicely with my new A* 600mm f5.6. I am looking for a second body as my K-5 will be holding the F* 300mm f4.5. The leading contestant was the just not releases K-3. Next is the K-5 IIs. A very good prospect. But what of a Canon FF body that would only cost me a F stop lever on the lens. Granted, my 600mm becomes a 600 again and not a 900 which it would be on the IIs but the Canon guys in my club say the Canon FF still out resolves the Canon APC bodies quite noticeably. This is a one lens option for me as stated in the beginning but since I plan to buy a second body, I am looking at all my options. So anyone with adapter experience please chime in...

Canon or Sony Alpha should work, both have a shorter flange distance than Pentax. Canon probably has the better noise performance, but with Sony you would get in-camera shake reduction. And I think the levers can be removed from inside the lens mount without cutting them, and maybe you can swap it out for a Canon lever, or fabricate something so you can still retain auto aperture functionality. Just a thought though, I've never tried it.

Canon EF doesn't have a lever or an aperture ring. EF is a completely electronic mount. Minolta, now Sony, retained the aperture lever.

If you want a FF just sell the A* and switch systems...Canon made a 600/4.5 that sells around what a A* sells for.

I'm 98% certain that your A* will not fit on a FF Canon body without major surgery. My A* 200mm does not fit on a 5DMK2. It does fit on a cropped-sensor body such as a 7D with an adapter that works well.

This is the sanest advice. At a certain price point, you purchase a system for the lens and performance capabilities, regardless of what you already own. If shooting action or wildlife with a 600mm lens is your objective, then just use a Canon (or Nikon) system; either will perform better than Pentax for that kind of photography.
