I would love a CAT/Mirror lens with good IQ and sharpness.

A Pentax mirror lens with AF would already be really cool, imho. If it would have good IQ even more so.

HD DFAM 800mm F8?

I thought this might be a good discussion point, if not the thread dies on the vine as it should.
Two questions:

1. Assuming you can only keep 1 of the lenses you currently have, what would it be?Keep one lens only ? Then it would have to be my 55-300. Reason....most range of my current arsenal of lenses. Also very impressive sharpness. .
2. Another situation, again assuming you can have only 1 lens, it can be any lens that fits your camera, and further assume that price is no consideration, what would that lens be?

Remember, big brother said you can only have 1 lens total.
Well then the Tamron 18-250mm...I think Pentax might have a version of this lens. Again ...because of range....wide to telephoto.

Because such lenses would probably require the pentax K mount to be wider than it currently is in order to accommodate the lens in the exit pupil of a 300mm f/2 lens.
Pentax did try a prototype K300/2 in 1977, but no luck getting it into production:

1. I would keep my FA 77mm f1.8. It is such a beautifully made lens

2. Something like a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 would be awesome. or a Pentax 24-70mm f2.4; it wouldn't necessarily be bigger since it doesn't need in-lens stabilization.

Because the 165mm front filter thread was rather problematic...

DFA 100mm macro (non-WR version)

SMC Pentax-FA* 250-600mm F5.6. I would sell it, then buy a DFA 100mm WR macro (slight upgrade from my reality) to keep with the 1 lens limit and use the excess cash to travel places with abundant populations of wee colourful frogs.

For me, prolly something like a 28-300 with the build quality of the DA 40mm & 70mm. I don't mean a pancake, but hey, since it's a fantasy, why not? But those are the ranges I most typically use, not wider than the 28 but I need the reach of the 300 for sports and school assemblies. Oh, and f1.8, but I would settle for f2.4 like the limiteds.

This is a hard one.

FA 77mm Limited or DA*50-135 f2.8

FA 77mm Limited is my fav lens. It never leaves my bag, and it has been my partner in producing some of the best images I've ever created. It is my goto lens when I'm heading out and don't know what to take. It is always on one of my two K5's when I'm event shooting.

Now the other K5 usually has the DA*50-135 f2.8 as it's my most useful lens for FOV. I don't do a lot of wide, but I do sit in this medium tele range A LOT, obvious as my fav prime is the 77. So when I need versatility the 50-135.

So at the end of the day, the 77, just because its awesome.

.
1. SMC Pentax-A* 200mm F4 Macro ED
2. SMC Pentax-A* 200mm F4 Macro ED

That was easy, as certainly money was no object when I got it 2 years 4 months & 12 days ago... not that I'm counting.
