Why no DA 560mm reviews?

Just looked at the review section for the DA 560 and it shows over 22,000 views but not a single review. So does no one have this lens yet?

I would say you have already said the answer.
I'd like a review too.

I would say must guys who wants and can afford it already bought a great older Pentax lens or the Sigma 500/4.5 and probably don't see enough reasons to make the switch (and even lose some money). I don't blame them.

Yes, I read the in depth review which is great but I was looking to see if anyone has actually bought and used one. With 22,000 views I think there is some interest so it seems strange that there are no buyers.

Well, it is a specialized lens.
What little need I personally have for super-tele
is covered by the Apo-Lanthar 180/4 on an original, "crop-sensor" Q.
(Kudos to Pentax for making that an option.)
Might be different if I wanted to sell wildlife images.

Most of those 22,000 views were probably made by Google and other search bots loading and indexing the page, not by real people.

Possibly. But DA*200 has 60,000 views and DA*300 has 105,000 views. Both of those lenses have been out for over 5 years.

Anyway it just seems strange that no one on this forum has purchased one. If anyone was going to I would think it would be someone here. But maybe I am thinking wrong. Or maybe Pentax has never sold one.

It can be very likely

Well, they priced it way beyond what most people can pay. Something priced and specced like Canon 400/5.6 would have sold a lot, I can promise you that.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer said I could order it right after her 22 carat Emerald (flawless) arrives (and is paid for).

I found one that has an bargain price tag on it... Just a mere $4,800. The place also sells faucets. Should I be worried?

The Pentax guy at Exposure tried really hard to interest me, I said "I'm not going to carry that." He rushed to take it off the tripod and said "Here hold it" I said it's lighter than it looks, but I'm still not going to carry it" He put it back on the tripod and said "here, put your camera on it and have a look." I put my camera on it and peered at the end of the conference center. "Very nice, but , I'm not going to carry it, hey what do you think my A_400 would be like on a Q?" He said, we don't have the adapter here but think of the magnification." I'm thinking, typical salesman, he's all over me for the 7K item, but for the $800 item he might actually have a chance of selling me, he doesn't have the adapter. I had to take Adam's test at face value without checking myself what my A-400 would be like on a Q7. If it wasn't for Adam, I'd have nothing to go on. As for the 560 mm, lens, it's lighter than you'd think, it's nice and sharp, but it's too long unless you have an army surplus field pack that was made for a bazooka, and it's still heavy enough, I don't want to carry it.

I would need to think real hard in taking this over a slightly older sigma screw drive 500/4.5 where I actually have 2 teleconverters to match to it and still get AF with the 1.4x. Add to that I already have a 200-500/5.6 and where is the need to spend so much more for an extra 60mm? When you consider the Q for example, I have many options to get 500+mm equivalent and yes, at much less weight. 560 mm on APS-C is about equal to my K135/2.5 in terms of filling the frame and no where near as fast, which really is important

My A-400 and 1.7 get me an semi-auto-focus 680... and I can carry it. Now, if I could just get one of those A 300 f4s to go with the TC, I would be so laughing..... 510mm, I could carry in my pocket. Sometimes what was, is better than what is. Oops, I just made up a lens that doesn't exist, I was thinking of the A 200 f4...., what's 100mm among friends?

The reason I haven't gone down the 560 route is that I have no firm direction on where Pentax is heading.
While Pentax is *probably* going to announce/post a K5 replacement, there is no firm word as of yet.
Even if the K5 replacement *does* come, if the camera is more "amateur" hour and not a true "Enthusiast" camera, there will be no need to invest in the 560.

So the 560 depends on what camera is about to come, and I guess most people feel the same way and are waiting for the other shoe to drop with the Ricoh color engineering bandwagon marching on.

If Ricoh screws up the K5 replacement, the thousand or so dollars between the Sigma 500 f/4.5 and DA560 will make up for the cost of a new D800 and cost of the Sigma.

So it's a cascading effect that will play out soon.
