Get the primes. The 18-135 is too close in IQ to the kit lens IMHO and I've had both.

Thanks for all the replies! I'd be 100% for a good prime (or two) but there is also the issue of switching. I usually have time to set up a shot and switch lenses but when I went on a trip with family last weekend I found I was missing some candid opportunities because of the time it takes to put down my bag, take out the 50mm, take the 15mm off, put the caps on and put the 50mm on. In cases like these a zoom would be super handy.

I'm now leaning towards an 18-55WR and a nice 35/28mm prime (possibly the 35/2.4 or a Sigma). Thanks everyone.

Hey, with photography, you will always miss some shots. It happens - you see a good subject, good light, an interesting event, and you wish you had the proper equipment with you, or that you could move to the best spot, etc. Thats why its important to choose quality over quantity. Trying to "capture everything" leads to a huge collection of snapshots. Focusing and taking just a few photos, leads to a gallery of splendid photographs. Just think back in the day when people had a roll of film with 16 frames. Or when a camera required many minutes to be prepared for a single photo. People still managed to record cherished memories.
