Tamron-F BBAR 135mm/F2.8

I'm really starting to like this lens. It came with a PK mount (no Adaptall) even though it is listed on the Tamron website as an Adaptall lens (not Adaptall-2). Anyway, I think I may have found a really nice 135mm lens to shoot "stuff" and animals. It's plenty sharp, even wide open (too sharp for portraits) and produces some really nice bokeh. Here are a few shots with some 100% crops thrown in for good measure. I didn't do anything in terms of PP other than resize and crop.

What do you think?

@F16

100% crop

@F5.6

100% crop

@F2.8

100% crop

Bokeh shot (and still pretty sharp otherwise)

Not bad at all... pretty damn good in fact.

In general, I've found things like CA and bokeh are very condition dependent - move just a bit, or focus a couple of mm differently, and the results are very diffrent. I'm blabbing about that because I've just tested the 70 ltd against the Tamron 90 2.5, and I don't think the Tamron lost. And, well, you brought up bokeh

I like the Tamrons of that era. Your pics sure are sharp and the while the bokeh isn't technically entirely neutral it is well organized and as close to neutral as the 135 length usually permits. How do you like this vs. the Tak 3.5?

I haven't gotten around to testing the Tak 135/3.5 yet. I have two of them from recent LBA binging (SMC and non-SMC), but haven't had the time to test them. I've decided to spend a little more time in getting to know the new lenses one by one. I'll probably shoot with both 3.5's sometime this weekend.

Here's another shot with the Tamron from yesterday.
