Sears 80-200mm PK-mount lens doesn't mount on K1000

Hello,
I just received a Sears 80-200mm f/4 macro lens in the mail today, but when I tried to mount it on my k1000, it gets stuck without fully mounting. The SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/2 lens that I've been using mounts perfectly. Here are pictures of the lens mount:

Also, for reference, photos of the lens mount of the 50mm f/2

And from the side

If you guys could give me any suggestions that would be great.

There shouldn't be any incompatibility problems with a K1000, it has the most basic version of the K mount.

Does it feel like it is hitting something solid and stopping or is there just increasing resistance?

Yeah, it feels like it is hitting something solid and stopping. It doesn't want to turn that last half centimetre.

The black flange that guards the aperture lever is too long, a common problem most people fix by filing it down. Remove the assembly before filing to prevent damage to the rest of the lens.

That lens doesn't have a flange on it at all, it does have an odd aperture lever configuration though, judging by the very nice pictures in this ad:

It wouldn't matter on the K1000 anyway since there are no PZ/SDM contacts to hit in the mirror box.

I'm not sure what it could be hitting, unless maybe one of the screws is catching on the lock pin. Have you tried mounting the lens with the lens release pressed?

Maybe you could try to get a shot of the lens mount with the flash, or with a slightly of angle so the flash isn't bouncing straight back at the camera.

Two things:

1) Are you certain it's a K-mount lens? Sears did make some stuff in other mounts (Mamiya/Sekor CS, for example, although that would be tough to confuse with K)

2) If it is K-mount, and won't mount easily on your K1000, there is something wrong with it. As elliott said, check that the screws aren't protruding.

1) I'm certain, because the letters "PK" are printed on the aperture ring.

2) No, the screws are not protruding from the back of the lens.

Here a couple of better photos of the lens mount:

Also, the ad that elliott posted also shows very good pictures of the lens.

Those screws sit below the surface more than most, the one right beside the aperture tab will pass by the lock pin on the camera. The only thing I can think is the pin is catching in that screw hole. Try holding the lens release button on the camera as you mount it.

Failing that, I'm all out of ideas, everything else seems to be fine.

I can see what you mean, but the lens release button doesn't move when I press on it with the lens half-mounted. I think that screw might be the culprit though.
