I made it to the camera shop this morning and tried out a couple of shots on a K20D with the Tammy and had similar results as from my K10D. Sample posted at Tammy/K20D

With all due respect you are giving this lens a bad rap with a flawed test. Your last two shots with the K20D have a strong reflection of the sun on the blue car on the lower right side. We all know that Pentax cameras react rather strongly by cutting down on the exposure to keep the bright spots from getting blown out.

Secondly, have you tried this test with any other lens, the kit lens for example? Are you getting perfectly even exposure with other lenses?

Thanks, that an interesting catch - I hadn't noticed that. I definitely should have set it to spot metering.

I didn't try another lens today, but there are a couple of sets that share a common subject using the Tamron 17-50 and 18-200 from a few days ago at 17-50 and 18-200. The 18-200 seems to hold more constant in those. I've also shot a few against the DA 50-200, which seemed to maintain a more consistent exposure.

Well, I have one on special order from a local dealer. I'm hoping and praying that it would be alright. I can live with a little inconsistancy in exposure, as I shoot only in RAW. But I don't think I can tolerate FF or BF.

Thanks for all the tests. So the two main problems are: bf/ff when in tungsten but not daylight, underexposing as aperture is stopped down.

Are these flaws that cannot be corrected with warranty?

What about other samples?

I have the 21 limited myself, which I picked up for little...

At first I didn't think much of it, but by now I really love it. Its' optical performance is excellent as well as handling. This is definitely a keeper for me... Enjoy!
