Even then, the $116 they're asking is still a far cry from the $155 that rp_dxn's contact wants.

Don't reward this pathetic price gouging.

I guess I should feel fortunate that I have pretty much rounded out my collection K-mount and M42 glass.

Which means next to nothing for value because a lot of lens issues will appear with age if it is used or not (fungus, sticky aperture blades and stuck focus rings).

My stance on this has softened a little.

rp_dxn, if you really want it, I suggest you offer $50 for it, on the condition that you may examine it closely first.

Open it up to f/2.8 and look through it for blemishes, notably fungus but also oil spots. (I'm assuming that it is indeed unused and you won't find scratches or wipe marks.)

Jiggle the aperture lever and make sure it moves smoothly and with little resistance. Also ensure it snaps right back into its home position freely. Keep your eye on the blades inside while you do this.

Test the focus and aperture rings. The aperture ring should snap between settings cleanly. The focus ring should lightly resist movement, and this resistance should be consistent throughout its whole focus range (no tight spots).

If you're happy, offer $50. I agree that a good lens is a good lens, provided it hasn't developed any problems with age, and perhaps the "unused" aspect may indeed be worth a little.

Question: Does the seller know that you were hyped over this lens?

Yes he noticed that i needed the lens badly, but i refused the offer...i really think its overpriced comparing to other prices on ebay... Thank you guys...
