Pentax K-mount Lens Roadmap Archive (from 2005 on)

This topic contains most (if not all) Pentax K-mount lens roadmaps since 2005 which were collected by a fellow Dutch forum member (Frederik9111), so credit should be given to him. Don't know if such a collection already exists on this forum. I will ask a moderator if this topic is worthy enough to be a sticky.

Amazing post, I think someone/Pentax should develop an interactive lens and camera timeline for the rich Asahi/Pentax History.

Curious to see the DA 35 SDM emerge, become DA* 30 SDM, and then disappear.
Wonder if it would have been a Sigma-like f/1.4.

Interesting to see how it used to be a "Lens Development Roadmap" with only the new DA lenses, and then became a "Lens Lineup" which acknowledged the remaining FA lenses.

The early Lens Development Roadmaps give the impression that things were pretty sparse back then. I joined Pentax only in 2012 so I don't really know. It would have been interesting to see how the FA lenses became discontinued over time, although of course that would never have been touted on a roadmap.

Updated the first post with the latest roadmap in which the SMC Pentax-DA 55-300 ED was replaced with the HD Pentax-DA 55-300 ED WR.
Three updated roadmaps appeared today: for K mount, Q mount and Pentax 645 mount.

Pentax K

- Addition of HD Pentax-DA 20-40 mm f/2,8-4 ED Limited DC WR replacing the former DA Zoom Limited
- The converter is now labelled HD: HD Pentax-DA AF RC 1.4x
- Together with DA Wide Zoom, DA Zoom and DA Tele Zoom, it is now scheduled for "2014 of later" instead of "2013 or later"

Pentax Q

- Addition of Pentax-08 replacing the former Wide Lens
- Telephoto Macro" is now scheduled for "2014 of later" instead of "2013 or later"

Pentax 645

- The 3 expected lenses (Wide Zoom, Standard Zoom and Tele Zoom) are now scheduled for "2014 of later" instead of "2013 or later".

Hence, except if there is a surprise, no new lens should be announced this year.

I'm curious as to the DA Zoom. Looks like it should be ~18-80mm. Does Pentax plan on replacing the existing 17-70mm f/4 - or is this an all-new lens ?
Maybe this is an attempt to either

a) Update the 17-70mm f/4 to match/beat Sigma's 17-70mm f/2.8-4
b) Make a WR model
c) Make a fast zoom - 28-75 f/2.8 like what Tamron has (also WR).

Personally - I'd like/prefer something like the 18-135mm - just a little faster.
Eg. 18-135mm f/2.8-4 WR. That woud be a REALLY good 'all around' lens. While I don't expect tack sharp at all focal lengths - it would improve the lens low-light/indoor usefulness along with boken/DoF

Does it look like the next D FA zoom is 28-105? I wish it was 24-105.. like this Sigma.
24-105mm F4 DG (OS)* HSM | A | Sigma Corporation of America

Edit: Yahoo!!.. good news.. if you look at the roadmap with Firefox's PDF viewer.. the line looks like 24-120mm!
