Sale dates for DA55-300 and DA*300 Japan

So it appears that these 2 are now going on sale in Japan this weekend. I would guess we'll see them in the US within a month??? That 55-300 looks good I sure hope it performs well.

You'll have to scroll the pages for each lens but the release dates are in red by each:

Promising find! My regular camera store has the DA*300 listed at $1,298.32 (CAD) and has told me it is 'on order'. Expecting my call soon, I hope!

Yeah that 60-250 has me baffled. There must be some technical issue. Depending on the price, I think it will be a good seller. Hopefully this summer.

So, what would be a decent price? I'm thinking MSRP $800 would be fair, with street down to $600-700 in a few months of release. Unless they plan to not have a long f2.8 zoom... then it would be higher.

i just checked adorama, looks like the 55-300 while not in yet, they expect to sell for 350ish. bit higher than i expected, even with the extra 100mm i expected sub-300 to start, and i assume it's bumping the 55-200....

will be torn between this, and the seemingly mythical 60-250.

yes, i know, very different lenses, but one will be: cheaper, out sooner, and provide longer reach.

so, i dunno. maybe neither. hoping the 55-300 is a nice one though

The 55-135 debuted over 1K. I highly doubt this larger glass will come in a quarter past that. More like a quarter more I'd guess, though I'd love it if you were right.

the 55-135 is also f2.8, not f4. canon's f4 L glass is 560, at B&H, so i'd anticipate the 700 dollar mark, or slightly higher, to compete with it.

I guess I'm just preparing myself for the worst, you bring a little sunshine into my outlook, hehe. I do truly wish you guys are right.

Ah! damn it!...just when my sigma 100-300 F4 is enroute. Oh well! if it is that much better, I''ll sell the 100-300 and get the prime. At least I'll have a lens for the next 4 weeks.

This is the only lens that I have been anxiously waiting on. The others are cool, but this one is in my most used range...I read someplace, I think here actually, that it was ready and would be released this june. I hope so. I also heard it will be in the 999.00 range...

Perhaps, but if you look at the cost for the other DA* lenses, I do not see it being cheaper.
