Vivitar 28-105mm SLR Lens

I recently purchased a K100D Super and am very pleased with the camera. I had hoped to use a Vivitar 28-105mm SLR Macro Focusing Zoom lens that was on my K1000. The lens will not fit because of a large flang near the aperture tab. Is there a way I can use or adapt this lens to work with my K100D Super.
Thanks, Bob

I have this problems with three lens from Vivitar and two come with serial # 22 from Kiron made for Ricoh camera along with Pentax. I have done the alternation with dremel tool. It is risky with high speed drilling, you can look for some manual file to saw down the unneeded part, I drop down the rough detail in an old thread titled dremel tool for lens modification, will find it for you later, but for now, you can reference to this blog post

Hin,
Thanks for your quick response to my problem. After reviewing your information and photos, I removed the flange from the lens and I now have a functioning zoom lens.
Thanks again, Bob
