I recently rediscovered the DA L 18-55 kit lens and its close focus ability , and was slightly surprised how well it worked for Macro ( close focus ) .. It was a little lacking , so I ordered one of those close focus filters ( +8 ) to make the lens more Macro .. So today the +8 close focus filter came in the mail , and even though it was a bit of a nasty ( weather ) day , I had to give it a try ...
First image is with a Pentax 100mm F4 Macro lens ( held in some regard )
2nd picture is with the DA L 18-55 Kit lens and the close up filter ...
The DA L was in manual mode as the field of focus with the close focus filter is small , very small . And it was some what pointless leaving the lens in AF mode .
For the above shot , focus was in infinite , and the lens @ 55mm , and by going to minimum focus , one can get even closer to the subject , close enough to make the lens Macro I think ..
Now the conditions were really bad for super sharp eye popping pictures , and I offer this as a comparison , for Macro ability ..
Hmmm , the DA L 18-55 , is there anything it cant do ?
