DA 70 or HD DA 70??

Plan to get the DA 70 2.4 as need that range just now..is there any difference between the new HD model & the old in reality?? if anyone has tested them..I can see rounded blades being better, but wonder about the coating..as the price is about 10-15% more on the HD series

HD Ltd's are not available yet, so there is no way anybody could compare them to the old ones.

But, keep in mind that you can get a used 70mm Ltd (old) in very good condition for 400-425$. I don't believe it is worth spending almost twice for a new design and maybe slightly better optical quality.

...and maybe not. Exactly. Nobody knows yet. But as good as the current (or "old" if you like) da70 is I find it very unlikely that the new one will be noticeably better.

Just my opinion, of course.

Highly recommend DA 70mm Ltd. Very subjective, but 70mm is probably the best of all Ltd's

Also, you can get the DA 70mm Ltd today, HD 70mm is only available for pre-order. Remember, that the lens of tomorrow can't be mounted on your camera today

It is possible to by from here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PENTAX-HD-DA-70mm-f-2-4-Limited-Black-Brand-New-Box-/380732963768?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item58a573fbb8

It's a very reliable seller and you'd be one of the first with this new lens I have bought five lenses from him and the delivery takes only 4-5 day from Japan to Scandinavia. But I'd buy the old DA 70mm as they are absolutely great, don't think the new ones can be much better

Japan is not a member EU, so + taxes = more expensive than buying locally.

I've bought lenses from matsuiyastore and have paid less than bying them from within EU even after adding import taxes.

Returns are no problems within 14 days and I frankly don't care about warranty as I've never had any problems with my limiteds or A lenses that I've bought from Japan. But I'm not going to start an argument with you about this. It's up to you if you want to buy in Lithuania or within EU and I linked to this seller as your information was incorrect and the lens is possible to buy now and not only for pre-order.

For myself I choose to buy from the one that is less expensive. Earlier this year I bought a DA 18-135mm from UK so I don't always buy from Japan.

If you like the shots that people take now with the SMC 70ltd there is no reason to wait for the new HD version. If on the other hand you prefer the rendering of the fa 77ltd or (like me) thought the sigma 70 macro was preferable despite the weight, then hang out to the HD version comes along and see if its any different.

also here they have them in stock..1 yr warranty...price is DKK 3750, + 5%+25% taxes which comes to DKK 4920,- + post duties 160,- so DKK 5081, and I can buy from godigital.dk here in Denmark in 1 week for DKK 5000,- in taxes so not much to save from Taiwan or Japan...actually in Denmark lens are cheaper than USA if you take off the taxes(which I can as a business ) and a 2 yr. warranty $1= DKK 5.70

@rob... you think the Sigma 70 macro is better? can use the macro, but I thought the Sigma was not good for non macro shots? I want as much detail as possible for APS-C sensor...
