55-300mm WR ?

I've scanned the web and haven't ever found a 55-300mm WR version of the one useful outdoor lens (there was a +2 year old thread on this)

Lets see...
They have the 18-55mm WR, 18-135mm WR HSM ($$$), they made a 50-200mm WR but not the more useful 55-300mm (which is supposed to have better optics than both the 50-200mm and 18-135mm).

Anyone want to prod Ricoh into a WR version ?

Already been done. (the prodding anyway)

No idea if it worked. My guess is it will come, they have redone the 18-55 and 50-200 as WR so the 55-300 is the logical next step. But who knows when....

That's been a very popular request over the years that I've been here! Really though I've been quite happy with the more compact 50-200wr so it's not been an issue for me - but the price gap between the 55-300 and DA* 60-250 does seem to leave room for a sealed 55-300... some day.

A WR version would be the perfect companion to the upcoming K-3...

In the last thread I noticed on the topic I wrote that I'm also waiting for the WR version. In the meantime I gave up waiting and got the non WR lens, and later upgraded to the WR DA* 300.

So not making the 55-300 WR was a good business decision für Ricoh/Pentax as far as this customer is concerned .

Indeed, here it is! Damn, now I'm tempted to upgrade - but I think DA 21 is still on top of my list. But maybe...

If you need WR, then get the new Red-stripy one. If not, get the old one. If you want something that AF's faster and way less noisy, you'll have to shell out for 60-250 or go to another brand of camera. But even with it's weak AF, it's a really great lens optically. The DA21 can't shoot far off things quite as closely though.
