M 85mm f/2 - samples

Here are 2 shots, my Son & Daughter (while they weren't running around ) I turned on a favorite movie and captured them while still ...tricky Dad.

I like the sharpness a lot, these are JPG just cropped and resized. ISO 400, full manual mode (aperture 5.6 and shutter 1/180) and On-board flash was used.

the one of your son looks backfocused slightly. I would also suggest a levels adjustment to make the image pop a little. The one of your daughter is tack on in focus.

You are right, the couch is focused more than my Son. I was a little panicked trying to get him, he's a tad energetic, especially tonight as his friend is over.

Nice shots, but I think to get the best out of that lens, you should try some natural-light (no flash) shots - get the most out of that f/2.

Thanks for the comment jshermann. Indeed, however, catching kids at night under indoor lighting without a flash I'd need a f-stop of about 0.25, ;-). I usually have my 50 f/1.4 on for that reason but, the M85 is new to me so it was on the camera at the time.

I hear you, it's challenging indeed - but worth it! Here are a couple taken with the M85 f/2 on my K100D:
