I would like to put this lens and 2x converter on my canon t3i will it give good results? Thanks

You will need a screw mount to canon adaptor, get one with the focus confirmation chip.

Tele converter can either be a screw mount before adaptor or canon one after, that is up to you

Good luck, if you get frustrated look for a Pentax camera, I am not sure your metering will work but with Pentax they do for sure

Totally agree, with preset lenses (I have the older preset) the Pentax Av mode comes very handily too.

Let us know whether your setup works fine, some picture + ergonomic review would be nice.

p/s: I imagine stopping down to meter with an extension tube will make the viewfinder very dark? Or does it matter?

It all depends on how far in you crop. I agree a 50% crop makes a TC look bad, but if you are cropping only 5-10% of the image! then the sensor resolution comes into play and then perhaps a TC helps,
