Series FA and A 50mm f/1.4

Some know I have been affected by the MFLBA (Manual Focus LBA). I have an A 28mm f/2.8 arriving Monday. In the shop they also have an A 50 f/1.4. I already have the FA 50 f/1.4 however, I'm turning into an MF freak. Using the MF on the FA50 is nothing like the "feel" of the M or A series. Does anyone know how the A compares to the FA in terms of IQ?

Well, according to

Pentax "Normal" Prime Lenses

both the SMC-A and SMC-FA 50/1.4 have the same lens
configuration. This indicates that it is basically the same
lens except for the AF.

I have both lenses (and probably developed an early form
of MFLBA) and can say that I cannot tell them apart from
looking at their images - but then, I am not comparing
pixel by pixel.

I bought the A50/1.4 earlier and came a across the FA version
later at a price I could not resist. Rather than selling my
A50/1.4, I use it in the studio for things that require manual
focus. And yes, I just love playing with it.

And then I have the old SMC 50/1.4 on my ME super and
another FA50/2.8 macro but that's another story.

Well, you won't have the autofocusing problems of the FA on the A501.4.

They are optically identical. I have compared both and there is no difference in image quality. Side by side: coating, lens elements (front/rear) curvature and size look identical.
