?? Tamron 90mm Macro - Whats happening ?

I tried to buy a Tamron 90mm Macro lens ( AF and current model for Pentax ) - and my money has been refunded as the seller can not guarantee a trouble free lens ?

Apparently the lens is having some sort of focus issue ! ????

Does anyone have the nitty gritty on this ?

Sounds like a seller problem, not a lens problem

Just about any lens has some bad copies out there, and eventually someone will buy it and be unhappy with it and write on forums about it.
The Tamron 90mm is not a bad lens, lots of members here use it and post great photos. Just try a different seller.
When a seller fails to deliver, they need an excuse, and its often made up. They just blame someone else.

Edit: Also, if you buy in person, you can maybe try the lens on your camera before purchase, so you can test AF right there. This is the main advantage over buying online.

Here's a link of my macro lucky-luc Photos all done with Tamron 90 mm f2.8.. If I had to says something bad about this lens, It's noisy on AF. For the price, I'd buy it all over again.

Sellers have no reason to the test a new lens - it's total BS. Handling it is not a good idea as any problems could be blamed on the seller.

I have one that won't focus, there is substantial lash in the screw focus mechanism. The AF mechanism spins it and overshoots due to the sloppiness of the mechanism. It is sharp if I manually focus.

I would suggest that the seller made a cash sale out of auction to somebody else. I have been involved in this forum for a long time and this is the first I have heard of any generic issue with the AF version of the Tamron 90mm Macro.

Same. My Tamron 90 served me well for years without any issues. It's a stellar lens that performs very well.

I buy 90% of all my equipment from the same seller. They are reputable and have always provided me with great customer service. Once I find a seller that meets my expectations, I support them.
