mmmm Didn't buy the Silver lenses that came with the K-5 Silver, but am tempted to do that with the K-3 Silver. Maybe a DA 70mm.

Nope. Got (almost) them all in 'regular' and am not thinking the upgrade will be really worth much.

Oh go one, order them already! How shall I get my real world tests and examples when you all wait for tests and examples?

Seriously, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy the 21 some time soon, but depending on other's experience with the HD models I might go hunting for bargains for the smc.

I'm afraid the DA15 HD will lose the starbursts of the regular 15 because of the rounded aperture blades. But I wouldn't get one regardless since I already have my DA15. I am considering a DA40/DA35 HD though once/if it drops in price.

I checked prices for the DA 21 earlier today. Here in Germany the cheapest HD the price comparison site found is 599€ for several shops. The cheapest smc is listed at 480€, but this is a single shop, others list it around 520-530€. The difference to the average price for the smc does not seem that big to me, considering the HD just came out and will probably (hopefully) get a bit cheaper in a few months.

Of course that's where I live, comparing lens prices across borders can be interesting...

Well just now only one shop futures the HD lenses, and that isn't the cheapest.

So I can find the smc DA21mm for 499 while the HD is 649.

The other story is for the DA 40mm/f2.8 Ltd.
smc for 349 euro
HD for 499 euro
I own this lens and bought it in 2009 for 275 euro!!!!!!!!!!!

Get the SMC DA21 before they disappear. The HD one does not seem to be a great improvement. Worse flare and no starbursts.

Well I was so smart to sell my 21mm copy (and 15mm) to buy the 31mm. Happy with the purchase, but the 21mm was a great lens.

Are there any reports of the supposed improvement in resolution due to the HD coatings compared to SMC? What about bokeh?

Than lens flare is clearly caused by a cheap filter, not the lens! Im guessing it was an intentional effect.
I just got my HD21 and so far so good. There was a 10% off HD limited sale at pentax australia web store so mine cost $630 Aus, not bad considering 10% tax and exchange rate.
