B&H has the 28-75 for $349. They also just got in the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 and it is priced at $419.

Tamron SP 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD-IF sells for about $400.00 can

The Pentax one 16-50mm sells for about 900.00...a bit much for me right now.

18-250mm pentax

When I used Canon, I changed my 24-70 f2.8 L for the Tamron, which is a third of the price as sharp or sharper and very light. I would say that it was one of the best lenses I ever owned. "Brutally Sharp". However you cannot compare the 16-50 to the 28-75 as they are completely different animals. Compare oranges to oranges.

If that is the direction you are going in, I would suggest the Pentax 12-24 and the Tamron 28-75. That would work for me.

Here is a sample of the Tammy 28-75 for "LINEA" magazine.

Did I get the wrong lens? I have read a few negatives about this lens in terms of manufacturing quality consistency elsewhere and was a little nervous about it.

So decided to get the Sigma 24-70 f2.8, EX DG. So my question, did a make a mistake, What are your opinions on the Sigma? Appreciate all comments.

Sorry, but that is my opinion.

Thanks Ben - I always appreciate honesty

Unfortunately, I am stuck with it - it's not too bad but certainly doesn't measure up to your shot of CRYBABY - the 24-70 is rather soft at 2.8 as someone else mentioned. Too costly to send it back from OZ to B+H, so I will learn to live with it. Next time though . . . more research and canvassing opinions first.
