F 70-210 or F 70-200

Hi, i have a chance to get 70-210 for about 100 euro and 70-200 for around 50 euro (both in similar conditions). There are alot of reviev of 70-210 and only a few of 70-200. Is there a much difference between those two lenses to pay twice for 70-210?? Non-smc optics are worse? Thx for all reply.

Yes, the non-SMC version is a lot worse. Go for the 70-210mm.

The SMC Pentax-F 70-210mm f4-5.6 is pretty good: heavy, well-built, pretty sharp even wide open and it becomes compact at 70mm and infinity. Loud autofocus and a front element that rotates when focusing are potential drawbacks. The non-SMC version of this lens is supposed to be decent as well. The 70-200s look almost the same but are not as good in all areas.

I concur -- the F 70-210 was IMO one of the best consumer class zooms in this FL range at the time, and user reviews rated it significantly better than the 70-200 variants. Personally, I'd choose any SMC lens over an otherwise equivalent uncoated one. Flare, when used creatively, can be neat, but more often than not, it just reduces contrast and makes a good shot ordinary or less.
