Lens Hoods - FA 35mm and M 50mm 1.4

1. The FA35 has a big lens hood are there smaller alternatives? In comparison the FA31 has a tiny one, although probably because it's lens diameter is larger?.
2. What hood would be approrpiate for M 50mm 1.4?

Thanks

Here's a photo of the fitting plastic clip-on round hood for the 50/1.4. Sorry the DOF is so messed up - I'm still learning.

I also have the 49mm square plastic hood for this lens but I don't have a photo handy.

Hood goes over the filter.

The hood clips over a 49mm filter; you have to remove the hood (put it back in the little case to keep it nice and fresh) and put the lens cap back on.

Being totally anal about losing things, I put the lens cap and body cap in the little case and the case in my camera bag when I am using a hood. I reverse the process when I am cleaning up or changing lenses.

I'm never in a hurry - obviouosly.

I think you can consider the regular screw on hood alternative. They are pretty cheap, even the metal one. You can buy a bigger lens cap to cap over these lens hoods as well, so no need to remove the hood to cap the lens.

Yes, the 49mm metal screw-in hoods work - I thought of that after I replied. I have a shoebox full of those hoods.

Sometimes 99 cents!

There's a good idea I never heard before - won't really work for the square hoods, though.

i put a bid on a 0.99 49mm hood on ebay and i'll just ask the seller to give me a lens cap of the appropriate size too. and i can use it on both the lenses since they have the same filter size. thanks!

That's exactly the ones I used on my previous black FA Limiteds:

They look ugly on the FA Limiteds, but quite okay on our normal 50/1.4 lenses

k100d, like frank, I too use a screw-in hood for my FA50 and FA43. I use a 52mm lens clip-on lens cap. So long as the lens hood is not sloping and has a flat edge, the clip-on lens cap will hold the inner edge of the hood pretty securely.

The hoods I used on the three FA Limiteds all have 58mm front thread, like the following one (which has a 52mm thread size):

A normal clip on 58mm cap will fit perfectly
