Help me choose a lens for night photography

Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip this evening to the Golden Gate bridge in hopes of rolling fog. At any rate, after that I'm going to shoot in the City tonight. I'll be shooting nightscapes of the City, but my question really is this: what lens to use for night walk around?

Heres what I'll be bringing:

SMC-A
50/ 1.4
50/ 1.7
28/ 2.8
35/ 2.8

Tamron Adaptall-A
24/2.5

SMC
100/4 Macro
135/ 3.5
200/ 4
17 Fisheye

DA Zooms
18-55 WR
50-200 (my usual walk around shooting B&W)
55-300

FA Zoom
100-300

Fixed Aperture
600

Long Tele
500

DA Limited
21/3.2
40/2.8
70/2.4

I'd like to just carry a couple of primes tonight, but I'm undecided...................

I've attached some of my typical walk around shots, and these are shot with a zoom. These are virgin shots, no PP, no cropping. No zoom tonight unless you convince me otherwise......

Thanks!

I would go for the da21 myself for the wide field of view, or any of the other limiteds if you want a bit more reach. I'd avoid zooms as they don't have the best IQ and might introduction unwanted flare or ghosting, etc.

I didnīt see a tripod in your list.. might be worth considering as it is night. lightweight combo might be obvious.. DA21/40/70, add the 17mm FE for wide angle and 28mm for careful framing between 21 and 40

For night shots of the bridge in fog, you needs legs - as in a tripod. A remote shutter release would also help. You also need a location with some elevation where the fog isn't - tall building in town or out on the headlands (north side of the bridge) and that requires a car. Even with a wide lens, you might need to stitch, depending on the shot you want.

I always carry a tripod in my car, and when walking, I have a mini tripod and/or a full size monopod in my backpack. My shots usually suck with the monopod, though.

I was only able to go to Potrero Hill and shoot the City. Traffic was far too heavy to go to the Gate, and there was absolutely no parking anywhere in the City. The crowds were thick, the restaurants and bars full, and lots of people dressed in costumes, and ladies in skimpy outfits. I drove around for an hour and a half trying to find somewhere to park. Shame really, it's an ideal night for candids.

Those are some great shots with such a mediocre lens. I can only imagine what great pictures you could take with a decent lens. You need a DA* or a couple of FA's in your arsenal. I would need a pack mule to carry all that stuff

If I only wanted to carry one it would be the DA21. If I was toting a kit with tripod it would be the 21,40 and one of the 50mm A's
