Sigma will be making USB dock for pentax

Not sure whether this info has been posted yet but just picked up an email from Sigma; good news:

Good morning,

If you are receiving this, it is because you had expressed interest in the past regarding a USB Dock for Pentax or Sony. Please know that we have received word from our parent company that we will indeed be making a Dock for both Pentax and Sony in the future. The bad news is that it probably will not be released until March of next year. But I did want to let you know that they have decided to go through with production and that it will be available next year.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!

Best regards,

Good stuff! Definitely a bit late, but hopefully this is a sign that the 17-70mm is selling well enough for Sigma to justify making a dock.

Good news. I just bought my first Sigma (150-500) about months ago....incidentally very happy with it. I'm impressed with the Sigma set up and the fact that they generally make their lenses with a Pentax mount. Now I'm interested in the new, fast 18-35 F 1.8.

Good, It looks like Sigma is preparing to be more supportive of the K mount.

Not a chance. The original 30mm f/1.4 EX lens was terrible to start with - I hear the new version isn't any better.

... I assume you talk about the Art 35/1.4 right? Well, the conclusions in the lens review here look quite impressive.

Edit: just realized there will be a 1.4/30 "Art" as well.

I respectfully disagree with both

The 18-35 has me interested in trying Sigma or non-PENTAX glass for the first time.

But many has bad taste from Sigma in the past and dismiss it... unfortunately only Sigma produce large aperture lens (while sacrifice size).

I just bought my first non pentax lens: Sigma 170-500mm APO. A film era lens. I canīt afford a 500mm prime so this is nice to play with when the 55-300 isnīt enough. I am impressed by the fact it has 9 aperture blades, just like my FA80-320 (55-300 has only 6).
Only problem is that it wonīt focus correctly through liveview, allthough PDAF works great and is pretty fast because of short focus throw.

Hey, c'mon.... Have a go than just depending on hearsay..
I've tried the version 2 and it's darn good actually! Even from wide open!

Have a go and make sure you get proper focus adjustment.. You'll be surprised!

I wouldn't use the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 even if it was the only pentax lens left on the planet.

That's discouraging. I have a Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC EX.

Why don't you like it?

The corners are soft even at f/11! that's why. For a lens that is marketed as a "normal" lens on APS-C format the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is a joke - I have "normal" 50mm lenses that can beat the crap out of it in the corners at f/2 on full frame*. On APS-C the Pentax FA31mm f/1.8 ASPH beats it in every way in terms of optical quality - and on full frame it is no-contest, as the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is designed specifically for APS-C format, while the FA31 is sublime on full frame.

*though to be fair, most lenses that can accomplish this are expensive.

I'll have to try mine.

The FA31 is out of my price range - especially to replace a lens I rarely use!

I just bought the 17-70 f/2.8-4 Contemporary. Needed a zoom for client work.
I quite like it... and this coming from someone who worships primes.
Just watched the video about the dock:
