tamron sp 90mm 52b, same filter sizes as the other M series lenses, beautiful bokeh

another would be either the M 85mm f2, which is undercorrected for spherical aberations and people believe has pixie dust sprinkled in the glass

or a Pentax M 50 f4 also has smooth backgrounds

I also like the M 50/1.4 and M 50/1.7 wide open, both have a bit of a glow to them at their max apertures

great lens, I use mine without hood and with B+W filter permanently attached in front to make sealed ,sturdy all weather portrait solution. Also nice for flower shots, just If it have at least 1:3 close up capability I would hardly take it off my K-5

I use my a 50 1:1.2 for portraits mostly. I don't think its IQ is much better than manual (50 1.4s ive used M and super taks) but it seems brighter so I hit focus more. Also, though large I love the balance on my k5.

Sigma 50mm f1.4 is a big lens but sharp at f1.4 with AF.... Currently there is a discount for this lens at bh...

I have never owned Pentax 55 but there are good reviews on this lens.

Some would say you should avoid a very sharp lens for portraiture, lest you see every facial imperfection.
For APS-C any 50mm lens should do. My daughter gets fine results with the "lowly" SMC Pentax-A 50/2.
