"a broken 28 mm 2.8," how is that lucky?

It wasn't a Pentax K or M 28mm, it was a Bushnell. Optically it's fine, but the aperature is stuck wide open on it. I'm no repairman, but I think the aperature release is decoupled from the aperature blades itself.

I don't really consider it a huge loss as, I had other lenses to replace it.

Still, getting the other two lenses was a huge plus, and I really really like the KX. Even moreso than my K1000.

I picked up the following for $115 shipped:

Pentax K1000
Pentax-A 50mm/f1.7
Pentax-A 70-210mm/f4
Super Tak 135/f3.5 + case + hood
Genuine Pentax M42 adapter
A ton of filters including some Tiffen CPLs

I thought that was a pretty good deal...

Some Pentax-afficiandus from Holland got extremely lucky!

He bought this set for € 150 or about $ 240 (please sit down before looking):
6 metal cases just filled to the top with great pentax gear!!

All the details : My new gear! :) on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Holy crap!

I've heard about good deals but that one takes the price! What was the seller thinking!!!

On a very impressive second place I'd put the K 50 1.2 for $25AU. Those are the kind of steals you dream about at night... wouldn't dear dream about the first one though!

I think it's quite obvious that many of us have a habit of buying used equipment, but what makes a good deal? When you feel "WOW that was a lot of fun/stuff/quality/(insert suitable word) for the money!"?

What are your best deals?

I feel one of my best deals is a K50 1.4 that I got in pretty good shape for under $50 with shipping from India I've had a lot of fun with that one.
Craigslist, $55:

* Pentax Program Plus body (dead shutter electronics, unfortunately...)
* Pentax SMC-A 50 f/1.7 lens in near-mint condition
* Pentax/Cosmicar A 70-210 f/4 zoom lens in seemingly unused condition, w/lensbag
* Olympus OM 50mm f/1.4 lens, w/lensbag
* Old soft carrying case
* small Samsonite DSLR shoulder bag

I flipped the Oly lens on eBay for $70-something, came out ahead

Not 'deal', but 'deals' (plural!)

- I got my FA 50 macro in a retail store for €89,- Mint condition.
- I got my F 1,7x adapter NIB for (I don't remember exactly) +/- €35,-
- I got my Auto Bellows NIB for €99,-
- I got my DA 21 ltd NIB for €149,-
- I got my A 50 f/1,7 NIB for €1,50- (yes, you got that right! One and a half Euro only, the man wouldn't want anything for it, I bought him a beer instead...
- I got my MZ-S + winder virtually for free (I bought a whole lotta stuff, including a Sigma 100-300 f/4, F 50 macro, F 100 macro, Panagor 300 f/5,6 mirror, Sigma 1,4x EX converter, etc for 750,- Sold the whole lot, kept the MZ-S and the Panagor and ended up with more money than I had spend.)
- I bought my M 35 f/2 for €19,-
- etc...

I guess I have a nose for cheap stuff...

Wow, are you serious? I didn't know Fry's would have that kind of pricing. I never bought anything major from that store, since most of their computer components are way over-priced. So I thought it would be the same for other items.

Yeah, I noticed one store (Anaheim) had no more Pentax lenses. I missed out on the clearance.
