Sigma 28-80 Macro lens found CHEAP!

Not that it's an expensive lens to begin with....

I popped into the local Ritz Camera here, and they had some lenses on clearance. I noticed that this Sigma 28-80 F3.5-5.6 Mini Zoom Macro was being cleared out for $25. Their regular price (and I know that it was overpriced at this) was around $160. I figured that for $25, how could I go wrong! So I bought it. It is an autofocus lens, and it has a Macro switch on it. It's definitely not made form top notch materials...it's all plastic, I believe.

But, again, for $25! So, I tried it out, and here's a picture that I took with it tonight just to test it out. It's a picture of the miter gauge on my tablesaw.

Holy cow... I think I'm going to have to make a trip to the local Wolf Camera (same company) regional store and see what they have to offer. Thanks for the tip! For $25, who could turn it down?

I had my K10 serviced recently and when I went in to pick it back up I took a look at the Sigma 28-80 zoom and it's prices as well. It was one of only three Pentax mount lenses my local store had. The Nikon mount was $24 and the Pentax was $25 like yours also.
Initially I was happy to have my K10 back and just rushed home to put the kids down for their nap and take some shots. After thinking about it a little I decided that when the kids woke up I would call the store to see if the lens was still there, buy it and if I did not like it, see if someone here would be interested in the thing. So the first part of that is just what I have done.
I have only played with it a little since then but I think I have decided to keep it and sell the two older, similar focal range lenses I have from film kits.

I think I have one of these on another bag ... was on an MZ-50 that was given to me to play with ... I might break it out and see what it is capable of.

Thanks for posting this ... I had totally forgotten I have one of these.

I think you'll need to save a little bit longer. It's actually an Incra 1000SE.

I got my Sigma new from the Ritz store-closing clearance sale this summer. It was marked down to $7.94, and I got 50% additional off for a total price of about $4.

I use the lens mostly now for its macro, as its wide range is not enough for an everyday lens.

tomwil clearly wins this thread. $4 for the Sigma mini zoom/macro.
Well played, tomwil. Well played. But I can assure you we will meet again and next time - I shall have my revenge. (laughs maniacally and quite unneccessarily causing others to question his mental stability)
