Should I replace my K 55 1.8 with the DA 50 1.8?

I've thought about buying the DA 50 1.8 but the problem is that swmbo will only let me keep one of these lenses. I use a K01 so focusing is not a problem, as most of the time I am taking pictures of the interiors of churches, with a bit of portraiture. On the other hand I find it impossible to focus on my wife's Kr, so the DA has the advantage there.

I guess I can get about 50 for my current lens, which will make the DA about 100. What do people think?

i love my K55, it's a fantastic lens. maybe my favourite. I plan to add the DA 50 , i also want to get the sigma 50mm, but it wouldn't be at the K's expense under any circumstances.

You can buy DA 50, shoot with both in parallel and then decide which one you would like to keep. At worst, you would sustain some minimal money loss trying to sell back the DA 50.

The K55 is a really good lens. The only reason to give it up for the DA 50 would be if you needed auto focus or auto exposure.

I think I am going to do what Boris suggested, but I predict the end result will be that I keep the af lens for convenience. I was trying to shot my niece last weekend and she just moves too quickly.

I have both. The K 55 is really nice and delivers some good OOF rendering. My DA50 1.8 is sharp and has that Pentax colors but sometimes I wrestled with its ability to focus that I sometimes just use it in manual because its quicker for me. I only have used it on my Kx body and would reserved judgement about the AF when I get my K3 or K5iis on December.
