Cheapest Body - SDM Disable

Just like the subject reads, what is the cheapest body I can buy that will allow me to disable the SDM on the DA* 16-50mm?

According to this thread, the Pentax K100D appears to be the cheapest DSLR that can disable SDM. No one yet knows if the K110D or *ist models can do this.

Your best resource is the camera database on this site and your cheapest option would be a camera that did not support SDM. SDM was first supported with the K10D and then only with firmware v1.30.

K100D never supported SDM...no need to disable anything. Again, the camera database on this site is your best reference. The cameras are listed in reverse chronological order (newest at top). I believe the first single-dial model to support SDM was the K100D Super.

Someone was selling a K20D, with the process already completed, in the market.

I read the OP's question as if he was asking for a cheap body to disable the SDM in the lens, as explained here.

Who is right? Only the OP knows!

LOL...
My intention is to disable the SDM, and then use the lens on my K-30.

Oh...he just wants a junk body as a vector to tweak the EEPROM of the lens! I get it.

Steve

(...you have to excuse me...have yet to drink the SDM kool-aid or update my K10D beyond firmward v1.20...)

Unless something has changed recently the disabling is in the lens not the camera. The problem is that the more recent cameras cannot be used to gain access to the lens eeprom.

The K20D mentioned had a problem where the SDM was faulty, not disabled.
