I have been seeing a new (at least new to me) lens brand cropping up on eBay. The brand is Mitakon, and apparently it is made in China and shipped from Hong Kong. I am wondering if anyone has had any direct, hands-on experience with these manual-focus lenses. The pricing on the 85 mm is tempting.

Unless things have changed, the Mitakon lenses are not only manual focus, but also "feature" fully manual diaphragm operation. What that means is that the lens is always stopped down. There is no aperture actuator lever on the mount.

In practice, this means a lot of fiddling with the aperture ring for each shot. Unless, of course, you are always shooting wide open.
