I gotta say, I've thought about it a lot with these threads, I love my 85, I love my 12-24, I love my 30/1.4 (check my lens list if you have any doubt) ect ect.. But honestly IF, I had to only super actual really have only one lens to rule them all, My DA*16-50mm would have to be the actual choice, wide enough to handle my wide angle addiction, enough range to cover most situations, sharp as, loverly render, Honestly, Its the "ONE" lens I would have to choose.
Ditto 100%

Although, as of next week (as soon as its delivered) I'll be the newest owner of an FA 31, so perhaps things may change?

Right now I'm always drawn to my Sigma 70mm macro.

If only one lens, it would have to be the Pentax DA 18-250mm. That way, I'm covered from wide-angle to telephoto, and the higher ISOs on modern Pentax cameras compensates for the len's slowness.

Out of my current collection it would be my K28/3.5. Slightly wide angle and very sharp.
If I could chose the FA31 or maybe (want to see a test first) the DA20-40.

Thats tough! Wide or tele? From what I love most it seems, that I would keep the Pentax Da Wr Dc 18-70 2.8, yet to be announced, haha. Seriously I would keep Sigma 10-20 4-5.6 Ex

I would like to go with my DA70/2.4, but my K35/3.5 would be a more practical option...

Only one lens from the ones I currently own? Probably my Tamron 18-200. It's not the best lens I own, but it covers a wide range of focal lengths.

Using just one lens kind of defeats the purpose of owning a DSLR as that's the main reason I own one. If I was stuck with just one, the obvious choice would be a versatile zoom and in my case, the 18-55 kit lens. It's nowhere near the best lens I currently own but it would be the most useful if I had to live with just one. I could get by with the DA 40 Limited. I shot with a Spotmatic for a few years with just a 55/1.8 Tak but I still would choose the zoom.

I make this decision all the time… most of the time it's the DA 18-135, but some days it's Sigma 70 macro… if the 18-135 had decent macro ability…it'd be the one. Unfortunately, I've never had macro on a zoom that was as good as the Tamron 90 or Sigma 70.

F50 1.7 or FA50 1.7 or A50 1.7 or M50 1.7 or K 50 1.7.... do you see a pattern here?

Only one lens from my current collection? Probably my A 35-105 f3.5. It's easily the best mid-range zoom I own. If I could pick one lens to live with that I don't own, I'd say either the DFA 50mm f2.8 macro or the DA Limited 35mm f2.8 macro.

Tamron 90mm macro. I'd rather give up the ability to take any kind of shot than compromise on close ups. I would consider a 50mm macro, but that is still telephoto on APS-C, and the 90mm has just the right working distance. Most of my photos are closeups of insects and plants.
