To Australia is 4-6, we must use slower planes being down under.

Nah. It's the ceremony for crossing the equator that eats up the time.

Enjoy it. I've even done the unthinkable and gone for a day trip with just the 12-24 and the 55-300, just for fun. The gap wasn't as noticeable/disappointing as I thought it would be.

One of my axioms…" Everything in photography works in doubles or halves." Each ƒ-stop is twice or half the next. So workable gaps would be 12mm-24mm, 24mm-50mm, 50mm- 100mm, 100mm-200mm and with me, 200mm-400mm. My next lens should be 800mm.. (not going to happen.)

So of the four gaps possible, you're only missing one. And you can always work around one gap, by cropping or framing a little tighter than you'd like. Stick a DA 35 2.4 or 40XS in your top pocket, and you would be so laughing.

Actually, Norm, that gear set of 12-24 and 55-300 is pretty close to the sequence I grew up with, photographically speaking. One old standard set of focal lengths and one that I used for many years was 28, 55 and 135 and a 2x. The sequence is 2x, 2.4x, 2x. In those terms My gap was ever so slightly smaller than what we used to consider normal. I never seemed to miss the 110 mm focal length. That's probably why it worked for me. 18-36 (the latter preferred as "normal" by many than and now) and 82.5-450.

What I put in my bag to cover the gap is DA* 16-50. It fits in a parka pocket in our current weather (-20C) but not in warm weather clothing (what's a pocket?).

Funny about that 110-135 mm thing on FF. I never had a lens in that range either. It's not really telephoto, a bit long for portraits, definitely too long for indoors. I could just never figure out why I'd want one. For me, everyone has a 50 right? so next step 100, step after that 200, there just isn't a spot there where 110-135 fits in, unless for a specific studio space that works best with that FL.

What are clothes… period. There is a thread on vests… I've been looking for a vest with a mesh back and front….with just a couple pockets.

Having camped along the Northern route through Ontario, clothes are essential. I can't afford the gallons of DEET I would need to keep some of the blood in my veins. There's a northern climate dilemma: wear clothes and sweat to death or wear no clothes and lose all your blood.

Now there's an idea. If you can find someone to make one, I'm sure everyone on the over 300 lens club would buy one. See my previous comment, and make sure the mesh is small enough to keep out the blood suckers.

any good tips on optimal settings etc.. how to test if its a good example..seems bottom corners can be unsharp..but maybe its distortion? only inside tests till now..hurricane winds here so only my DA* go out in bad weather...

on the vest.. I got an Olympus E1 vest yrs ago from Texas I think, mesh on both sides..can hold lots of gear..can post a pic if wanted
