I just think having such a great lens at 31, makes putting out one at 28 less appealing. And matching the 31 in IQ would be a chore. In fact, it has been a while since Pentax released a lens with the Rep of the 31. Sometimes having been really good in the past, limits your future.

I am on the virge of saving up and getting the 31mm... at present that is my holy grail of lenses... but I won't pay that MAP price. I have gone through tons of lenses to learn what I like but I still think a 28mm designed for the crop sensor in a small 'travel' compact package would be good.

It's the focal length primarily but it is also the size that matters...

They make an awesome 77mm... but that didn't stop anyone from making a 70mm...

- a Limited 10mm as an alternative to the Sigma ultra wide angle zooms
- an update of the 77mm, with DC motor (i use this as my portrait lens and the noise is irritating people), and less purple fringing if possible

For me, more really fast prime lenses like some of the other brands do.

I'd love to see:
1) HD Pentax-Da* 50-135mm f/2 WR DC. Price point: ~$2200.
2) HD Pentax-Da Ltd. 24mm f/1.8 WR. (Smaller than the Sigma version and with way better performance).
3) HD Pentax-Da* 85mm f/1.4.

How about a 400mm f5.6? I don't care what features it has, but if they can't make it for less than $1200, don't make it at all.

How about a DA100-400 WR and a 1.4TC WR to match up with it.

12-24mm F/4
24-70mm F/2.8
24mm F/2.0 or 1.4

135mm F/2.0 or 1.8 or 1.4
500mm F/4

In reality though Pentax's lens prices have been so silly lately I likely might not purchase any of them.

I would love a DA 100-400 f5.6 WR DC lens and a DA*400 f5.6 with a DC motor

Well, they've already started:

HD Pentax-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 Limited DC WR Reviews - DA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

. . . but that hasn't stopped the complaints:

I would give my left testicle for a Pentax MPE65 type lens, or rather one that's better. Ie a lens that'd go from 1:2 to 4:1

Hmmm.... you'd think that if they planned to change the existing lenses to WR that they'd bundle that with the change to HD.

No, the existing lenses will be changed to WR when they're ready for another price increase!
