DA Limited

I am hearing the word Limiteds all over the forum and translated to swedish it sounds to me that there is a limited edition but it does not seem that this is the meaning of the word in this context so I am asking you what it actually means.

Pentax has used the word "Limited" in different ways.

First there is the Limited lens range: SMC Pentax-DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited Reviews - DA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database the DA 15mm Limited for example.

Second they have in the past released Limited editions of cameras part way through the life of the camera. In silver usually, maybe always.

Third they released a Limited Edition silver K-3 with matching grip at release of the K-3, only 2,000 to be made.

Fourth they released a Limited 645D camera in red at one point.

So, you have to follow the context to understand what is being referred to. Hope that helps.

Keep in mind that Pentax is not a European company, so they probably don't understand the word "limited" the same way we do. Iconography and semiotics there are slightly different.
The limited editions of cameras are actually limited. (and the "special" editions, too)
The limited lens series is different - they are merely lenses with a higher standard of production and a different design philosophy. But they are not limited in the sense of "only 1000 will be made"
Pentax also uses other labels for their lenses, like the *, which mean star quality - but the lenses are not made of stars, nor do they have international celebrity status. But they are "stars" in comparison to "regular" lenses

It's not a star, it is asterisk.

I have also heard the * referred to as 'star'. So what's up with the *ist cameras?

Limited just means premium compact, not limited production. DA limiteds have metal barrels but comparatively slow apertures due to their small size.
