Well, thank you to all who contributed to this thread - ordered one today... My first copy (early this year) was horrible (which is very rare for this lens). So I waited this long... You all have convinced me to try it again, so hopefully will be here soon!

Yours probably was made on a Monday. Every product has Monday runs, it's that the 16-50/2.8 seems to be only run on Mondays and every other Friday that is the real problem.
