@gkopeliadis:

Have you seen this thread at dpr:

DA* 50-135mm ghost images...: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

Your 50-135 is probably not a bad copy: the ghosting and flare seem to really be there. That's strange, but we have to live with it to profit from the other good qualities of this lens. I also had problems like yours (night photos, or harsh contra light), but then by day and more normal lighting conditions, well, I like a lo this lens, so....
Still, may be the equivalent focal sigma lens is worth a look (optically speaking) . Is there a user review or a test of the sigma somewhere ?

Wonderful Picture !! it makes you feel like you are inside the pen but....

What the heck is wrong with that Lion?? I hope it's just old because he looks way malnourished.

First shots with the DA* 50-135 and Pentax AF 1.7 TC. SDM does not work of course and this was AF spot metering. A lot of the shots seemed soft to me next time I will try MF - but when AF locks it can be good

impressive stuff. Iso 800 on my K10 would hardly look this good
Noise always annoyed me on my 30D, but it was obvious that the noise at the same ISO was less noticable with good lenses, i guess in a shot with plenty of detail for the eye to look at we don't see the noise as much? (Another way of saying the 50-135 must just be good)

Just a few more from yesterday:

@50mm, just a great walkabout capture-the-moment lens:

Here's a quick focus test, shot through a doorway - plants are about 40 ft away:
@135mm

But what does the crop show...? BOF! (Bees In Flight!)

Bugs in flight from 40ft, at 135mm (not 250!)

I love this lens.

Dude, i can't afford you posting images like this I'd have to sell my 40/2.8 to the greek dude who likes the sun to afford this lens, this 50-135 is just too nice.....

Sigma AF 50-150mm f/2.8 EX HSM DC (Nikon mount) - Review / Test Report

Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 APO EX DC HSM review - Introduction - Lenstip.com

It's better in flaring/ghosting but worse in almost any other aspect (if we take the tests for granted)

At the zoo

.

For exhibits that don't require the long glass, the 50-135 is a good choice:

Ape shots were at ISO 800.
