Wow, that is painfull to look at, PF or not, I think you may have severly overexposed that shot. I feel like I need to squint.

Yeah, a horribly overexposed shot of a big window will come out bad, wide aperture or not....yikes! Let's see some REAL photos

FYI, it does happen w/ real pics as well:

Look at the railing and hallway lights.
Unfortunately, this was before I discovered PF can be more easily fixed in RAW and was still shooting JPEG... :-P

FA50 F1.4 with closeup filter

Ben, a great portrait. I have much to learn about lighting, composition, etc and love your shots............. still working on willing subjects before making the leap to real people. Getting to know this lens - example of cheap macro route with closeup filter. Ken.

Well that is only a couple of spots, like you tried to take a decent snap of a nice scene, the other image looked like a massacre in comparison.

nitish247, thatīs really insanely overexposed. Do you shoot manually? It looks like you have way too long shutterspeed and using too large aparture.

Dou you have EXIF-information? Would be very interesting to see. Where in Stockholm did you buy it? I live in Stockholm myself.

nitish247:
I got abit of that PF as well. I tried taking a similar picture as those you did. (the sink, way overexposed, towards the window) I didnt get anywhere near as much PF as you did, yet there was some.

Heres an example of the kind of picture that produce the worst PF for me. Bright lamps bleed purple outwards, and I have too been wondering if my lens has a defect of some sorts.

But I really love this lens! I can take fairly sharp handheld pictures low light like this.

F1.7
Handheld and 1/20 sec exposure time
Taken with a K100D Super with FA50/1.4

Here's why I like my SMC-M 50 f1.4 - Taken at f22 on a K10D @ ISO 100 with one flash gun to the left at 1/64th power manual exposure and using the pop-up at -2.0 power.. 1/30th shutter speed.. Taken of my Spotmatic-F with a S-M-C Takumar 50m f1.4 lens on it!!

The lens is hard as nails to focus at f1.4 but my copy produces clean images so no complaints there.

My "go to" low light lens. Previously posted last year in the images sub-forum.

Pentax K10D, SMC Pentax-FA 50mm f/1:1.4, Av exposure mode, f/1.4, 1/8s, ISO 1600 (yup, that's one-eight of a second, handheld).

So impressed!

The examples here are amazing - I just ordered one from eBay a few days ago, and now I'm practically beside myself waiting for it to get here. Thanks - I'm now more convinced than ever I made the right choice.
