50s can do city/land-scapes too.

Taken with my FA50;

Belcarra as seen from Burnaby Mtn in Burnaby, BC, Canada;

A crop, not a stitched pano;

I couldn't afford a better lens, and still can't. It has forced me to become reaallly creative...

That lens pretty much LIVES on my camera!! I LOVE IT!!

It can be pretty unforgiving though! It will show you every wrinkle, every speck or dirt, and in our house... the fact that no matter what we do... there is always dog hair EVERYWHERE!

I have never noticed any PF, and I take pics in front of windows all the time. I think this photo would definitely have shown some PF if it was an issue with all copies of the lens...

Just got one from Barry at Camera Lens Rentals. Boy, is this puppy sharp!!! Took a portrait shot of a friend from about 6 feet and you can see each individual 'peach fuzz' hair on her face.

Great blog, Hudson. A good argument for only having one lens!

I just got mine FA50 1.4 but it does not seems to work with my k20d: lac panel just show "F - -" ? and nothing happen to any settings that I have tried. Used now 2 hours to try find out here if there is some special settings that I have to make to use this lens with k20d or is this just a broken one?
Or am I just a newbie. Please help.

Just set the aperture on the FA 50/1.4 to the "A"-setting and all will be fine.

I think it's the perfect people lens. Good enough that I've decided I don't need a "portrait" lens anymore......I already have it.

It's a little tight in close quarters, but excellent when you have some room to work with.

It's also great for shooting "stuff"....
