DA20-40 at 20 mm @f7.1. left corner

DA20-40 at 20 mm @2.8 left corner

This lens is really sharp with the best results at 30 mm. It seems to me 30 mm is sweet spot.
40 mm is good at center, but no any serious difference between corner's sharpness at f4 and f7.1, for example.
The corners are soft at 40 mm.

I'm not sure that it can be considered a mistake. A slow, short, variable aperture, not incredibly wide but not incredibly telephoto zoom is not something most manufacturer's offer as a premium product. This lens is pretty much in a category of its own, so I wouldn't expect it to be compatible with other lens series.

Man, I am being negative today. I think it's due to traffic jams on the way home from work (in Los Angles). I'm going to get off of the forum so I don't say anything else negative.

What's a traffic Jam? Is that like pushing too many cows on the loading ramp to the semi and one falls off? I live in Iowa.

Okay here is the last image that I'll share but I think it speaks to what this lens can do. So here is what I did. Set up a tripod. Manual exposure. 2 sec. delay. took several pictures from each the DA 35 ltd Macro and the DA 20-40 each at f4. I picked the sharpest one from each. I focused using CDAF and the point of focus is the hip on the cyclist. I didn't do any sharpening and these images are straight from camera through Aperture to flickr. To my eyes they are equally sharp. I was hard pressed to find any discernable difference. Anyway here you go. I've included a link of you want to look at full images. DA 20-40 - a set on Flickr
DA35 Ltd

DA20-40
Wow, nice comparison and the DA20-40 does really well here.

Your Flickr images are really showing the quality of this lens! Thanks for your posts.

This lens may end up hogging my K-5 rather than my FA 20-35. WR is important for me, especially on hikes in summer (Southwest monsoon season).

Is the PF/CA from heavy post production

Hi Roden.... the heavy veritcal purple lines on the tree and the green CA on the bridge... are those do to exposure or heavy pushes in post production?
