I think these are some amazing shots, especially considering that post processing software doesn't have any lens profiles for this lens yet! Just imagine, once the software will automatically correct any CA and fringing. The lens will appear even sharper, the photos more perfect

Yes. Nice comparison. I'll add a couple more one with a messy manzanita branch laden background and one with a easier background to handle. I'd say the lens provides some nice separation between background and subject.

Flare resistance

Thought I would add some images of flare resistance. Overall it does a better than average job of this.

And one that was just bokehlicious.

Tested my 20-40 - Great lens

I got two copies of the 20-40, and have tested them with about 150 shots against several lenses like the Pentax 16-50, 35 DA Macro Ltd, etc. I've got to say that this is one fine optic. Very sharp over the whole range, even wide open. Focuses very accurately on my K-01 and K-5. It's a winner for sure. My first copy was a bit soft wide open on the extreme right, the second copy a bit more even on the edges...so kept the second one. But really no complaints about either one.

I wish it started in the 16-18 range, but other than that, this is a great lens for sure.

For me I don't mind the 20 vs. 15/16 on the wide end. I have a 15 ltd and can always slap that on if necessary. Aside from the sharpness which I'd agree with you covers the whole range, I'm most drawn by how the lens renders the image. There is something extra in it to my eye.

Do you find now that you have the DA 20-40 that your DA*16-50 gets less use?

I've had only over a week, but my 16-50 has not been used since I got the 20-40. Not sure I will part with it, the 16-50 has treated me well!
