Wide Angle on a Budget (Which?)

Im confused which to get. Theyre basically almost the same price. This lens will be used mainly for landscape (use od ND, grads, polars).

Samyang 16mm
Sigma 10-20mm

Thank you guys.

Samyang 14mm 2.8 is even cheaper, and it's very good.

16mm isn't that wide...i would go with the 10-20 or maybe the 14mm 2.8...maybe you could try the 8mm, normal or defished...its pretty good!

I have the 14mm Samyang, but I kinda wish the 16mm were available back when I got it. I sometimes find the 14mm to be awkwardly wide. And f2.0 also sounds good.
It was the first UWA lens I got for my Pentax DSLR, though. I don't regret it, but it has its cons. I never handled the Sigma, but it might be the better overall choice - zoom range, AF.. Ive seen some great photos taken with it, too. Maybe the Samyang beats it in terms of pure IQ, though. You have to choose your priority.

I would go with a zoom, primarily for the additional versatility. Tamron has a 10-24 that is also a bit less. Adam did a review of all the wide angles a while ago. That would be a good reference.

Also, polarizers on lenses wider than about 24mm have some limitations. The lenses are just too wide to uniformly apply the polarization effect, especially on the sky. They are expensive (large size) and vignette (so even more expensive for low profile thin mounts).

14mm samyang is really not an option for me, no filter thread.

I like my Tamron 10-24, especially for the price I paid, but it definitely needs to be stopped down a bit for the results to be sharp. Otherwise, it's a really convenient zoom range to have and helps reduce lens swaps. The build quality is very decent and it's light and easy to handle despite having a 77mm filter thread.

While slower, the Sigma 10-20 is very versatile. I find that I use it more than the Samyang.

If you don't know, get the 10-20. The 16 might not be wide enough. Do you have the option to rent them for a few days?

I don't have an UWA (so can't judge the qualities of the above lenses); there are only a few occasions where I would have loved to have one but they are few and far apart.
