AF Speed of the 18-135mm vs 20-40mm Limited

I am curious on how the AF speed compares between the 18-138mm vs the new Limited HD 20-40mm lenses, in theory they both share the same technology, DC motor.

The 20-40mm seems considerably slower because of the lack of IF, plus it's moving around a metal barrel.
