Help Identify this Lens?

I got this lens for Christmas and can't figure out who this manufacturer is.The focus and zoom appear to be stuck.

This lens says EF on it so I believe it designed to be used on Canon EOS cameras. Looking at the front of this lens and the weird shape of whatever that is on the front, I'd be inclined to say that this is not a lens at all but instead, it is one of those types of cups or mugs that are supposed to look like a lens. Maybe that's just a stupid observation but if the this is not a lens, this is the only thing that I can think of that it would be. If it is a lens and if that thing on the front is a lens hood, it is the weirdest-looking lens hood I've ever seen.

I have a similar model, received as a birthday gift a couple of years ago. Although I was excited when I took it out of its box, I quickly realized that, like yours, both the zoom and focus rings were stuck. "Darn," I thought, "another SDM issue. Great." Then, I mounted it on my shop vise, carefully clamped in a pipe vise attachment. Still couldn't budge the focus ring. Ah ha, I thought, time for the oil filter wrench. Nope, wouldn't move. Then I figured out something - it's really a pre-1980 lens, and the helicoid grease has hardened! Of course, that's the problem!

Now I just enjoy my coffee.

Craig

Someone needs to make a DA Limited coffee cup for the espresso drinkers of the camera world...but not the 40mm, that would just be silly

Driline, I'm just curious as to what part of Iowa you are from. I was born and raised in Clinton (but I try not to admit that very much) but now I'm living in Davenport.

I live right next to you. Bettendorf. It's probably a good idea to keep silent about Clinton Although I travel there frequently for work.
