Full-blown LBA!

Well, just finished up a week in which I bought the Sigma 135-400 from KEH.com, a Super Takumar 200 F/4.0 from ePrey, and (just today) the Pentax DA10-17. Wow. My name is Russ, and I am a lens buying addict....

Let's summarize:
Pentax SMC DA18-55 (aka, the kit lens)
Pentax SMC DA50-200
Pentax SMC DA10-17
Pentax SMC FA50 F/1.4
Pentax SMC-A 70-210 F/4.0
Pentax SMC-A 135 F/2.8
Pentax SMC300 F/4.0
Takumar 135 F/2.5
Super Takumar 200 F/2.0
Maknion reflex 400 F/8.0
Sigma 135-400 APO
Tamron 28-300 XR
Vivitar 28 F/2.8
Vivitar 2X TC

yeah, I think that about covers it. I'm pretty sure the Sigma 135-400 is just staying here temporarily until I find the "Bigma" (50-500). Might as well go whole hog if I'm going long.

I plan to pare down the kit some to repay myself for some of the recent purchases. The mirror lens, the Tak 135 and the Vivitar 2x TC are going soon. After that, I don't know where I'll go. I guess I'll go take some pictures.

Congrats on all the lenses, and welcome to LBA!

I just about broke the bank with month, completing my collection of 50mm A's and adding 2 * lenses to my list

My latest arrival:

Nice little starter kit Russ ....but LBA...??? sorry mate:ugh: but you have only just embarked upon this magical mystery tour.

My advice to you is NOT to fight it you are far better just to bask in LBA's warm inner glow ...resistance is futile...useless...impossible

Some say that the true addiction does not start until you have bought two (2) copies of the same lens

Enjoy them.

Jim King once said once you had 4 lens that cover 50mm you were in full blown LBA - and zooms don't count! All 4 of my lenses hit 50mm (2 50s, 2 zooms) - but I guess I don't have it as bad as I could. There are tons of lenses I want (including at least 1 more covering 50mm) but my finances dictate I keep it in check.

Crap. I really didn't need to hear that

As I look around I see:

2 x Chinon 50/1.7
SMC-M 50/2
SMC-M 50/1.4
Rikenon 50/1.7
Rikenon 50/2

(M42) Chinon Autoflex 50/2.8
(M42) Meyer Optik Goerlitz 50/1.7 - Oreston
(M42) Pentacon 50/1.8

Oh and an M42 Fujinon 55/2.2 which I would guess also counts as a 50. And that doesn't even count the zooms that cover 50 as well!

Congratualtions Mo on your A 50 1.2, As you know I have the SMC (K) version of this same lens. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with it. Every time I want to take it off my camera, my fingers start twitching so badly that I can't remove the lens! The gosh darned thing seems to be living on my DS! I think I have a bad case of NLSoCS (New Lens Stuck on Camera Syndrome)

NaCl(this also happened with the FA 50 1.4 and the Tamron 90 2.8 Macro but not as bad)H2O

You can gladly donate a couple of them to me That should satisfy my LBA for now.

As for my latest acquisition, it was a SMC-M 50/1.7, and I'm working on obtaining my own 135/2.8 (dunno whether it will be 3rd party or Pentax)

Russ - welcome!

Damn thats some bad LBA. haha. I think posting photos of the lenses can help alleviate LBA withdrawal for the time being.

Oh yes Rikenon. The onther day I was at the store and I bought the Rikenon 135m f2.8 totally out of Collectors LBA cuz I got a XR-2 and a Rikenon 50/2 at home. I thought they'd welcome another family member haha.

Aw man I can't wait till my Vivitar 28-90mm Series One comes in.

LOL - in some cases, it builds up lens envy, creating an even worse case of LBA.

LOL,

I gotta laugh Mo, your LBA has been in full blown rage for about 6 months now, with all the glass you have picked up.

Oh, and you'd be right if you're thinking I'm very jeolous of your collection right now. But it's OK, my name is Alan, and I'm a Lens Addict.

I don't think I have LBA, but this morning I've just received a second hand FA 80-320, going on Mo's and others' advice. It's got a few small scratches on it, but I'll test the important part this weekend, I hope.

However I fully intend to sell a lens as well, I hope that helps me.

oh but you can channel that energy into a variant form. You will accept that you got no more money left to spare. You will read about the other cases of LBA around you but you will accept that its beyond your reach and so you are at peace...all you can feel is appreciation.

Lens Beauty Appreciation.

(Of course this dreamy state draws to a quick close when you find a job and the limiting agent...money...floods back into your life...and your dormant LBA rips out from within and next thing you know...your name and address has been stamped on the next package leaving whatever country...)
