5 months later and...

I know that this is a little OT for the post in question, but I saw my old posting and I couldn't help but comment on it.

Hin,

In addition to the 21 + 28-75 combination, I've also thought about a 21 + 28-105/3.2-4.5 combination, as well, mainly because the 28-105 is half the weight of the 28-75.
Well, I've since gotten the 28-75. Even though I've gotten the 12-24, getting a 21 isn't completely out of the question. I'm curious to see what the DA15 is going to be like, though.

So, at the moment, I'm envisioning my kit looking like this:
Lightweight prime kit: 21, 43 (or DA35), and 70. If I don't get the DA35, then I would add a DFA 100 for macro.
I've since gotten rid of the 43 and have replaced it with the 35, which was a good move for me. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll ever get a 70, as I have both a 50 and an A100/4 macro (1:2). As I mentioned above, the 21 is still in consideration. At some point, I'll probably replace the A50/1.7 with either the new DA55 or FA50/1.4, since I prefer AF, anyhow.

Zooms: currently Sigma 17-70 + Sigma 100-300 UC. Especially if I don't get the DFA100, then the 100-300 could also go with the primes for whenever I need telephoto.
I might consider replacing the Sigma 17-70 with the DA17-70, if it's weathersealed, otherwise I'll eventually trade the Sigma for the 28-75. Depending on reviews and finances, I would also consider replacing the 100-300 with the DA55-300.
That has completely changed. I did trade the 17-70 for the 28-75, which was a good move since I generally don't need extra-wide lengths on a lens I consider my walkaround. I did replace that less-than-stellar 100-300 with the DA55-300, which is stellar for the price. Depending on how things go with this LBA challenge, I may eventually replace the A100 with the Sigma 105/2.8, so I can have 1:1, as well as the extra speed, which will be handy when using a TC with it.

A 2.8 telezoom does tempt me, but if I do get one, it probably won't be until after I upgrade my body.

Is that funny that after 5 months, a lot of our LBA activities are filled with changes. The bad things (lba bugs) run in our blood stream and there is no anti-dose for cure. The only thing we can do is to suppress it for a while. Hope you do well in your LBA challenge. It is good to get our head cleared with a better picture on what we need instead of lusting every lens other praises about. It works for me as I am cutting/consolidating lens instead of accumulating more lens.

My proof:
Kiron 28mm f/2.5, Pentax K 45-125 f/4.0, Tokina 28-70 f/2.8-4.3 in Marketplace

And honestly, you are doing very well in keeping a good list of lens without overlap but I will caution on frequent lens swapping.

Regarding the 21mm, that is one sweet lens that I want to get along with something like Tamron 10-24mm. I always find zoom work better for me, but prime is the best at the focal length. Let's have both when we car afford. But for real, let's have one such as your Pentax 12-24 zoom to be content and save for the luxury to have both. So no go for your tempted mind for the 21mm. Go use your 12-24 to the fullest content. As for me, I want to trade lens for the 21mm. My last attempt is to try to trade my Lester A Dine with DA 21 but with no go in Marketplace.

And about the 70mm, I tell you my trick with LBA supressant. If you have Tamron Pz-AF 1.4x TC, I used that with my FA 50 f/1.4 and voila, I get virtually the unknown FA 70mm f/2.0 and with Promaster 1.7x AF TC, I get FA 85mm f/2.8 (to be documented).

Someone, please help me buy my 2 lens in marketplace so that I can move on to trim my Lester A Dine next followed by 2 unused camera bodies.

The 50-135 is the reason I'm still loving Pentax.

It is an abusive relationship. Pentax treats me wrong sometimes. But the 50-135 keeps brining me back.

If throughout the year, Pentax offers $200 discount for lens alone, I would kiss my Nikon & Canon thoughts goodbye. But life is a beauty when you don't have enough money and hence the daydreaming with the better choice of going free.

I am free to think. Pentax doesn't have me. I have Pentax. I can choose to be Nikonion tomorrow and Canonite in the weekend after if I want to. But no money. I am back to square one -- the Pentaxian who can't afford the 50-135. Damn it!

Come on guys, help me buy my Pentax K 45-125 f/4.0 so that I can save up for the missing rebate of 50-135.

Hin
