Might be simpler to see if you can return the lens for your money back and buying a lens that has a Pentax mount.
Unfortunately, I can't return the item.

I agree with that, adding an adapter can degrade the quality of the image depending on the lens. if you buy one to add to a low quality lens to begin with you are throwing your money away. If it were a Nikkor lens then it might be worth it. What I suggest is if you want to buy lenses for your camera check the gear data base on here it has a lot of useful information.
Thanks for your suggestion, I checked the gear database on here before I purchased the lens and though I couldn't find a review the price $15 was hard to beat.

Quick update. I have managed to mount the lens, however, it doesn't click to indicate it is securely on.

If it were me I wouldn't be taking the chance of screwing up a $700.00 (well $549.00 or less now) camera trying to use a $15.00 lens with the wrong mount. if your bent on using it do yourself a favor and get an adapter.

Here's a cheaper one with the glass from China

I think I am going to check with some friends that have a Nikon camera and see if they want to buy the lens. Thanks again for the input.

If you do a search you will find Nikon lenses (mostly pre AI/AIS) can be mounted on Pentax--but unless you are experienced I think it safer to not try it. Chalk it up to lesson learned and share it w/ Nikon user/friend. Not like it is such a special (rare/expensive/unique) lens, and if it was: better to add a Nikon dslr.
